There are many disputations to this part of the Birth of Christ story. We could argue point after point about:g. 1. Astrologers say there might have been? a super nova or not. 2. Chinese and Korean astrologers record a comet, sort of, at the time frame--if the years are off and it was in the Spring. 3. A comet-but, it doesn't just "sit" in one place and it was a sign of a bad omen during ancient times. OR--we can say a brightness led the Wise Men to the Holy Child. When we saya a brightness or a "light"--who is the Light? What a symbol for the birth of the "Light of the World"! Can we agree it was faith--the wise men were led by the Light of Christ to the dwelling place of the Holy Family. The Wise Men were in tune with divinity, that much is clear. They heeded the instructions to not return to Herod, without question. And, again we see that Joseph is a man of fiath as he is given the revelation to act for his family--and he obeys. The lesson one can learn from these are: 1. Do I follow the Light in my life? 2. And, then, do I HEED the inspiration that come from following the Light of Christ. In our crazy world, heeding the Light of Christ is anger and hateful words to people who have differing views. Perhaps that can the first goal set, to set aside the contention of the world to be able to focus on the joy found in the Light of Christ.
