This is the beginning of a multi-lesson blog. We will begin stydying the New Testament. We will be using the King James Version to be able to rely on the historical contexts, and the cultural contexts within it. Some of the exercises will be simply cross referencing, creating scripture chains, or making notes. Some of the exercises will involve setting a goal for yourself or writing your feelings, or what you have learned. If you have not taken our lessons on 'Symbolism' it might be a good idea to take that class prior to this one, however, it is not required. Matthew 1:1-17: Few people have probably completely read through this lineage. I know for many years I skipped over it, and I know others that have, too. However, it is an important part of the story of Christ. These verses fulfill the prophecy, Psalm 89:4. "Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up they throne to all generations. Selah." Establish: The Davidic Descent of Jesus Christ Throne: Jesus Christ's Millennial Reign; Kingdom of God, on Earth. We can create a Scripture Chain here. Circle the verse numbers or draw a straight line down the verse numbers of Matthew 1: 1-17, at the end of verse 17, write 'Psalm 89:4'. In verse 4 of Psalm 89, highlight the verse number and the words Establish and Throne. The next verse to connect is Psalm 132:11, write that at the end of Psalm 89:4. In Psalm 132 highlight the verse number 11, then highlight 'fruit of thy body' and 'throne'. The first again, is the Davidic Descent of Jesus Christ; and the second is the Millennial Reign of Christ; and the Kingdom of God, on Earth. Matthew 1:18-24 discusses briefly the relationship between Joseph and Mary. The were betrothed, not quite married. And, Joseph was going to quietly let her out of the betrothment (engagement) when he found out she was with child. We learn quite a bit about Joseph at this point, he had strong testimony of his faith. He chose the option of public humiliation over 'saving face' and walking away from Mary. He knew the sacredness of the unfolding events within his life, and stood by Mary. Joseph was a remarkable man for his time.

Courage is the strongest asset that we can all have. It will be our armor in these times. Let us hold on together and never let the small things get on our way. I know that we can all do it if we will work hard and we should ensure that everything will be fine. I will always check the people that I love. We should help one another and always be supportive to their dreams. Dreams are there to serve a purpose.
