Matthew 9 has many instances of Jesus healing through faith. Notice, it is a twofold healing, the one that is being healed must also have faith that they will be healed. The greatest example is the woman who merely wanted to touch his garment and she would be healed; he felt the healing power and knew she was had touched him, in faith. Another laments that his daughter has died, but he knew that Jesus could bring her back to life. Such faith, is it faith or is it hope? Are the two the same? Though Jesus healed, He also asked that they will not spread the word of those healings. So, people knew that this was happening and those who had need sought Him out. So, hope was there. Faith had to follow hope. "And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you." The healings are also symbolic of repentance and turning one's life around. All things are possible through Christ. That is possible through the atonement in Gethsemane. He bore all of our burdens at that time. There is nothing that we can go through that Christ has not already conquered in Gethsemane. So, do we truly have the faith to lay things in our life that is holding us back for whatever reason at His feet? Do we truly "...believe ye that I am able to do this?" Imagine what we could accomplish in our lives if only we laid our troubles at His feet, truly laid our troubles there. No matter how inconsequential we think it is, if it is holding us back, we need to lay it His feet. The goal for this week, truly lay at least one thing that you have thought was not something that could be turned over to Christ...just do it. Is it getting up 15 minutes earlier to read or pray? Is it motivation to clean one's house, motivation to start a journal, motivation to begin an exercise regimen...
