Just a few years ago the mantra, "We agree to disagree" kept us a civil society. Somewhere, somehow, and seemingly overnight it became "If you don't agree with me you have no rights". And somehow we evolved to the position that "If you don't agree with me then you are a hater." My goodness, how did we get here? Here are some facts: 1. It is possible to disagree with one's position on societal concerns and not hate the other person. 2. It is possible for a church whose tenets go against what you believe to exist, yet,you can still love the members of that church.. 3. It is possible to accept the outcome of an election, yet still hold your positions without being hateful and demean others whom you have never met, therefore, you do not know them well enough to clump them into one stereotype. 4. It is possible for you to leave a church that does not share your societal ideas even though you have attended that church your entire life. The church does not need to change it's ideals to suit your ideals. It is possible for you to find another church to attend, and still love the people of your old church. 5. It is possible to love everyone, no matter what country they live in, used to live in, or religion they belong to; yet, disagree with them. 6. It is possible for celebrities to be quiet, and use their public presence to do acts of service, rather than rant hate. (There is proof, because there are unsung celebrities that are doing this.) Basically, we are all sharing this planet and we all have different ideas about how things should be done. However, we do not need to push our own thoughts onto someone else. Really, we don't. And, we don't have to be hateful about differing opinions. Really, we don't. It hurts my heart so much to see people yelling at politicians; people yelling at other people; people knocking hats off of teen-agers because they don't like what it says; threats of bodily harm or rioting if a certain speaker is presented at a university or public place; the list goes on. We will not advance as a society with all of the extreme hate that is being egged on by politicians, news personalities, and celebrities. The only place to go with hate, is backwards. Hate and hateful actions brew discontent. It also sends those who are on an opposing viewpoint that are extreme to dig in deeper in their convictions. So, it does not move us forward. Perhaps we need 'Silent Night' to play for us, and see if the Left and the Right will put down their verbal weapons and meet in the middle to shake hands; if not for just one day.

We all have our freedom and to use it is a great advantage for all of us, but we should be aware of the consequences that it may bring. People may commit some mistakes along the way and we need to guide them. Courage will always play a role in our lives, whether we like it or not, so let us try to defeat the feeling that is not needed and I am talking about the negative emotions that we are feeling. People must understand that courage is needed in almost every aspect in this world.
